Create a sandbox

  1. Sign in to the OrcaRail dashboard and open your live organization.
  2. Click Go to sandbox in the header.
  3. The first time, give the sandbox a name (for example "Acme Sandbox") and click Create sandbox.
  4. The guided setup opens. Add test products, create an API key (it starts with ak_test_) and copy the embed snippet.

After that, Go to sandbox switches to your sandbox in one click, and Back to live returns to the live organization. While you are in the sandbox a banner reads "You are in sandbox — testnets only, no real funds", and the organization switcher shows a Sandbox badge.

Only organization owners and admins can create the sandbox. Each live organization has one sandbox.

Team​

The sandbox mirrors the live organization's team: everyone keeps the same role. Invite, remove and change roles in the live organization; the sandbox follows automatically.

Resetting​

Deleting the sandbox organization removes all of its test data. Click Go to sandbox again to start a fresh one. Deleting the live organization also deletes its sandbox.

With the API​

Dashboard users can also open the sandbox with POST /api/v1/organizations/{liveOrganizationId}/sandbox and a body of { "name": "Acme Sandbox" }. The call is idempotent: it returns the existing sandbox when there is one.
